The Sylk Story
Although SylkJewelry the Brand began in 2020 when I was 18 years old, I believe it began many many years before that, in my childhood.
My name is Nur, and I am the founder of sylkjewelry.
To me, SylkJewelry is a testament of love and the power that it holds to inspire and nurture the creative in an individual. I say this because, my passion for jewellery stemmed from my Mother, whom I love deeply and who showed me what unconditional love is.
Since as early as I can remember, my Mother would spend weekends showing and teaching me how to make jewellery, designing pieces together, admiring how she was able to do so, so effortlessly. Not only did this make me fall in love with jewellery & the beauty that something so simple holds, but this creativity is what made my mother and I so close. This is where Sylkjewelry began. Eventually what began as a weekend hobby, became a brand that is loved by tens of thousands of people, and that is what you see today.
To this day she is my number 1 supporter and she is present at every single brand event that Sylkjewelry is exhibited at. I hold deep gratitude for her sharing her passion with me as it allowed me to follow my heart and create a brand that I adore. A brand that was founded on memories of love, patience and creativity. I am truly grateful for every order, kind message and show of support it receives. Love truly is the foundation of success.
Running Sylkjewelry is what brings me true joy and peace, in doing so I am often reminded of these memories from childhood and being able to share this love with each and every one of you is surreal to me.
All these years later and I still have all of the pieces that my mother made for me.
Frequently asked questions
It will come in standard packaging; jewellery will come in plastic pouches & in a flat bubble mailer. If your order is above £70 it will come with jewellery pouches.
The materials used are as listed; Sterling silver or Stainless Steel base with a pure gold plating ranging from 14k to 24k.
Both materials are very durable & allow you to enjoy your pieces for a very long time. However as with all things they must be taken care of. For SylkJewelry the care guidance is as follows;
- Please ensure you keep jewellery away from chemicals. This includes sweat, perfumes, lotions & chemicals such as dish soap.
- When you choose not to wear your items please store in a cool dry place. If a pouch has been purchased that is an ideal storage. Chemicals will overtime eat away at the gold plating & your jewellery may begin to expose the silver metal underneath.
- Try not to wear to sleep as it may get caught on hair/ or tugged & break.
If you need to cancel your order please email as soon as you can. If you purchase has already been dispatched it is no longer eligible for cancellation.
If an engraving is left it will be done exactly as it has been left/ requested by the customer. If you receive your purchase and realise there was an error in the engraving you left unfortunately it cannot be replaced or changed & it would then be recommended to place a new order.
For arabic translations; if your personalisation is not left in arabic or the language wanted it will be translated & accuracy cannot be guaranteed. If/ when you receive your item and realise the translation is wrong you will not be eligible for a replacement in this circumstance, so please double check your personalisations before placing your order!
It is highly likely you have either purchased a custom piece of jewellery or an item on preorder & may have missed this info in the product description. If in doubt please get in touch.
Your jewellery can be exposed to water & be completely fine, however frequent exposure to water;
- Water itself isn’t the enemy, but the chemicals/minerals in water (like those in pools, hot tubs, or hard tap water) can react with the sterling silver/ stainless steel and cause it to darken.
- Showering once in a while? Absolutely fine.
Swimming every day? Not ideal.
The same advice is given for solid 18k Gold jewellery despite it being tarnish free & can result in it needing frequent polishing This is purely down to the chemicals found in water which can damage the gold plating.
